I recently found myself sitting in a high chair, under some huge floodlights.. I remember my life was flashing by in front of my eyes.. the fun times, the food, ice creams, chocolates, BBQ parties.. the smiles, memories.. my entire life.. and I was thinking how everyone else must be happily going about their business while I was preparing myself, .. for a dentist! I was sitting in this comfortable looking chair that had two thousand different positions and adjustments to make me presentable to this dentist!

10th Speech Milestone.. (Inspirational)

..Well, this is my 10th project and it is supposed to be inspirational. So I thought maybe I can inspire you with this 
Speech – “In Memory Of.. (The lessons from High School Biology)”
When I was in high school, I took Biology as an elective. I don’t remember why I did that, especially since I was never cut to be a doctor. I certainly did not know back then, what I was getting into.. Basically, Biology had 2 separate limbs, Botany and Zoology. Botany was pretty harmless and non-violent, whereas Zoology came with some bloody violence.
There used to be a big massacre in our Biology labs. They used to call it “the Dissection”. But I tend to think of it as mass murder, ethnic cleansing of sort! I doubt how much it helped me in my knowledge about those poor animals. If you really hate someone, you may wish that the person ends up like that in front of some “student” in his next life! 
Speech – “The Delicious and the Vicious”
A few days ago, I saw a really horrible video about how pigs get tortured on one pig farm. This was not first of its kind for me.. it was a very disturbing video. I am sure many of you must have seen or at least known these undercover videos. Modern technology has allowed us to bring visibility into every nook and corner of this world – good or bad..

About 1 and a half years ago, something wonderful happened and it changed our life forever..
This was in the works for a long time.. My wife and I have waited and worked on this long enough to appreciate its importance.. my son’s future depended on it.. our peace of mind depended on it.. and also the overall quality of living for all of us depended on it.. This was really a once in a lifetime thing to start, something that stays with you forever.. It is something you have gotta learn and not something you are born with..
My Adventures in Public Speaking..
I was never a stage person. Every time I tried to do that when I was in school or college, I could not hide the fact that I was nervous. I have sung on stage, spoken a few words, received prizes, given a brief thank you speech.. but all that, quite reluctantly. If I had my way, I would love to receive an award in a jungle or sing a song in my bathroom and transmit it to the world – err, I mean the audio of it

Why? Why “Hello World!” always! I create a new blog and WP just automatically creates a dummy “Hello world” post for me! Anyways, there are some things in life that you can never change! Let’s just live with that instead of fighting them..
So it took me some time to come up with a tagline for this blog.. I have a personal blog already – http://blog.somik.net. My personal blog has been there for a while but somehow I could not write everything there. So I created an Articles blog at http://articles.somik.net where I have posts that are long enough to be qualified as articles and are mostly relevant to Indian readers. Now what is this blog about? Is this some kind of a narcissistic obsession to have a ton of blogs in my name?
To tell you the truth, I started with my adventures in Public Speaking recently – Toastmasters, in particular. And I wanted a place to record my speeches somewhere. I did not want them on my personal blog because sometimes the speeches are extensions of some of the posts I already have over there. Also, I wanted this to be MORE personal blog than the other one – now, I don’t know what that means.. but whatever!
